Rory
When Rory was born, his heel prick test revealed that he had little to no TREC circles, indicating problems with his immune system. After a year of tests, we learned that his body wasn’t producing T-cells properly and a stem cell transplant was the best treatment option.
At just 15 months old, Rory underwent a stem cell transplant on Ward 3 in August 2025. As his mum, I was honored and nervous to be his stem cell donor but thankfully it all went smoothly!
Now, at 22 months old, Rory is thriving. He’s back to his energetic self, we are able to reduce some medications, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Although the cause of his condition remains a mystery, it is suspected to be a new genetic mutation and is still being investigated.
We’re forever thankful to the amazing staff on Ward 3 for their support and care.
