Jill Coates

I first began working on Ward 23 at Newcastle General Hospital in September 2003, my first job as a Children's Nurse.  I worked both on the ward and later as a Nurse Specialist on the BMT Liaison Team.  After having my own children, I returned to working on the ward and was ward manager on Ward 3 from 2019-2022.  Most recently I worked on the Special Care Baby Unit at Northumbria Trust as the ward manager but have returned to the GNCH as a Nurse Specialist with the CHIPS team.

I have always been incredibly proud of my time working on Ward 3. The team has always been outstanding in the way they support both families and each other.  In the years since I first qualified there have been so many developments and improvements in care, this is driven by a culture that constantly strives to advance new knowledge and skills.  Ward 3 feels like home to me, and I am excited to help support further growth and development in my role as trustee for the Bubble Foundation.
